These are auralizations of Brahm’s Symphony No. 4 played in a computer model of a concert hall.
As you are listening to the auralizations, decide which one has the “warmest” sound and which ones sound “brighter,” or more brilliant.

Creating the Auralizations
The Method:
The bass ratio is determined by the reverberation times at different frequencies, which in turn are determined by the materials present in the room. To create these auralizations, we used a simple computer model of a concert hall and changed the materials for each different auralization. The sound with the highest bass ratio was created using materials that absorb high frequency sounds very well but reflect low frequency sounds. A low bass ratio was obtained in the opposite manner: using materials very absorbant of low frequencies and reflective of high frequencies.
The Model:
The computer model used in the above auralizations is the same as was used for the Reverberation Auralizations. You can read more about this particular model on the Reverberation Auralizations page.
All auralizations created using Odeon Room Acoustics Software.
